7.1 As mentioned previously, work on Leigh Park has been evolved over several years as part of a substantial community participation process. That process did not involve the production of alternative actions but rather the continual challenge, assessment and amendment of the emerging planning position. The emergence of Sustainability Appraisal and evolution of Government guidance thereon during that process has informed the ongoing production of the Leigh Park SPD but arrived after the Community workshops which set out some of the broad parameters of the community priorities which have been the driving force behind the Leigh Park Creating Quality Places Project. Therefore this Appraisal does not detail a list of alternatives to those schemes assessed.

 

7.2 One option for the future planning of Leigh Park would be to do nothing. However, it is clear that that option would do little to achieve the objectives listed above. The identified issues and problems in Leigh Park would continue. None of the identified positive effects shown in Appendix 6 would take place. Therefore do nothing option is not sustainable.
