Havant Borough Townscape, Landscape and Seascape Character Assessment ( LCA )

Havant Borough Council, jointly with Hampshire County Council and the Countryside Agency, appointed consultants to undertake an integrated landscape character assessment of the borough.  This study is part of an initiative to foster a better understanding of the variety of historic, landscape, ecological, social, economic and cultural factors that have created the distinctive character of Havant Borough.  The study also looks at the forces that will be driving change in the Borough and the sensitivity of the Borough’s landscape, townscape and seascape to change. Emsworth Foreshore
Kirkham Landscape Planning Consultants ( KLPC ), Wessex Archaeology and Countryscape consultants undertook a detailed assessment and identified 16 landscape character types and 41 landscape character areas across the Borough which included an historic landscape character assessment, an analysis of the principal settlements and settlement pattern and an assessment of the ecology and biodiversity of the borough. The LCA is a background document for the Local Development Framework ( LDF ) and the upcoming borough-wide Urban Design Guide which will be subject to formal public consultation in due course. Hooks Row
