Transport Policy and Projects

 
Use this page to access information about the various transport - related projects currently under way in the area, the policies which get them there in the first place, and some of the campaigns being run to make sure the policies and projects deliver what they are intended to.
 
The Borough and County Councils are working in partnership with First to develop a bus priority route along the A3 from Portsmouth to Clanfield; section 1 opened in 2003, and the scheme is due to be completed in 2008.
 
The Hindhead bypass on the A3 is the 'missing link' in the continuous dual carriageway between Havant and London. When complete the Borough will be within a hour's easy drive of the capital.
 
Part 1 of the latest section of National Cycle Network Route 2, providing an alternative route for cyclists between Broadmarsh and Farlington beside the A27, was opened on 17th June 2005. Part 2 of the route, eastwards from Broadmarsh, is now being built and should be complete in June 2008 - photographs of its construction are included.
 
The Council enters the BIG Green Commuter Challenge each year. We won in 2005 and 2007! We're looking forward to May 12th - 16th 2008.

Manual for Streets provides guidance for practitioners involved in the planning, design, provision and approval of new residential streets, and modifications to existing ones. It aims to increase the quality of life through good design which creates more people-orientated streets.

Growth Point funding has been made available to improve the street environment in Park Road North, Havant. Work on new railings and upgrading the footpaths and footbridge in Boys Brigade Gardens, completes in mid June 2008
