Community Boards - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the role of the Community Boards?

The Community Boards were set up in 2004 as part of the Liveability Project, to represent local opinions and aspirations, wants and needs. They do this through their members as representatives of the local population and through inviting the general public to their meetings.  However they were set up for the longer term, beyond the Liveability Project which ran until April 2006.

As members now of the Havant Community Partnership, they are able to determine longer-term priorities for their areas, to access funding with partner organisations, and to be the consultation mechanism for all partners on the Havant Community Partnership Board.

The Community Boards serve the following areas:
  • Hayling Island
  • Waterlooville South
  • Waterlooville North
  • Havant and Bedhampton
  • Emsworth
  • Leigh Park.

When do the Community Boards meet?

What is the Havant Community Partnership?

The Havant Community Partnership (HCP) is Havant's local strategic partnership. It includes key strategic service delivery partners such as the Police, the Primary Care Trust and the council. It is responsible for producing and implementing  a community strategy for Havant Borough: a long-term vision for the area.

The HCP published its first Community Strategy "Stronger Together", in March 2005.  This strategy was revised during 2007 and the HCP published the new Havant Borough Sustainable Community Strategy 2008-2012, "Forward Together"  in August 2008. Follow this link to view "Forward Together" >>>>

The HCP consists of a Partnership Board (the strategic or executive body) and the six Community Boards.
