It’s never too late to start!

This is Pat from the Leigh Park over 50's keep fit class. Pat helped secure some funding to keep the class going and now it is a huge success and the average age of the class is 80!

Pat loves going to the class as she has made many new friends and she feels great!

"Apart from doing the exercises, keeping fit and keeping our joints supple, it's our own little club and everybody is happy and friendly. When anyone misses a class for a few weeks they always feel the difference"

Dr Mike Knapton of the British Heart Foundation says;

“If we are physically inactive in our 50s, we could be laying the foundations for miserable poor health in our later years - the very time when we should be enjoying our well-earned retirement!
“It’s incredibly important for the 50-plus generation to be physically active now, and to maintain that activity, if they want to protect their heart health and stand on their own two feet for longer.”

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is an enhancement on ordinary walking - it makes something we can all do...twice as effective! It is a specifc fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or rambling.

Nordic Walking poles add two major health benefits to going for a walk, they use the upper body muscles and they propel you along, making it easier to work quite hard!
