BIG Green Commuter Challenge 14 - 20 May
2012
Havant Borough Council sponsor the competition for businesses
based in the borough (i.e. business addresses with a PO7 - PO11
postcode).
Local organisations compete to reduce miles travelled by driving
alone. This cuts congestion and pollution, helps combat climate
change and can bring benefits to organisations by increasing staff
wellbeing and easing parking problems. Using alternatives for
commuting and business journeys in a competitive environment helps
support corporate social responsibility goals and raise the profile
of your organisation.
The BIG Green Commuter Challenge is
- A week-long event (14-20 May 2012)
- A competition between local workplaces
- An easy way to try different ways to get to work
- An opportunity to join with other workplaces/organisations to
reduce congestion and emissions
- A chance to highlight the health, financial and environmental
benefits to employees and organisations
The Moon and back – join the mission
This year is the 10th
anniversary of the Big Green Commuter Challenge.
As we have saved 403,421 miles over the last
nine years, the distance to the moon and almost all the way back to
earth, we are asking organisations to help us save another 74,000
miles to get back.
People taking part in the challenge can get
discounts on buses, trains and cycle kit.
Winners can get prizes including iPods.
The challenge runs from 14 to 20 May. The
deadline for organisations to enter is 4 May. For more information and to sign up use this
