Roadworks in Hampshire

Hampshire County Council is the Highway Authority responsible for publicly maintained roads and footways within Hampshire (except for trunk roads) and for regulating and maintaining all works and activities on them.

For details of existing and impending road works and comprehensive information regarding Hampshire's road / footway maintenance and regulatory policies please follow the link below. This will take you to Hampshire County Council's Highways website which has a large number of fact sheets about all aspects of highways including maintenance, surveys, roadworks, winter procedures, street lights and traffic signals, drainage, verges and regulation (licenses etc.).

For a searchable map-based representation of the locations and details of roadworks in Hampshire, use the link below to the ELGIN system. You will need to download Adobe SVG viewer to view the mapping - a link is available on the ELGIN introduction page. Unfortunately due to fact that the site uses mapping based information, this feature is not accessible to users of assistive software (e.g. braille readers or screen readers).

Hampshire County Council is not the Highway Authority for motorways and trunk roads or roads within Southampton or Portsmouth. Responsibility for these roads lies with the Highways Agency, Southampton City Council and Portsmouth City Council respectively on whose websites you will be able to find current information.

West Sussex County Council has a similar facility to Hampshire's, covering roadworks on county roads east of Emsworth.
