WATERLOOVILLE CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW
MORE than 40 classic Harley Davidsons will be cruising through
Waterlooville on Saturday, 2 July when the classic motor show rolls
into town bringing music and entertainment for the whole
family.
The all-American classic motorbikes, ridden by members of The
New Forest Harley Davidson Owners' Club, will create a two-wheeled
procession through the centre of town at 11am ending up in the
precinct where the bikes will stay on show.
From a Morris Traveller to a Mark 2 Jaguar and a MG Midget,
more than 30 classic cars will also be on display during the annual
show, that is following a nautical theme in keeping with SeaBritain
2005. And for anyone who loves tinkering around under the bonnet,
the owners of the cars will be on hand to chat about the history of
their vehicles many of which have been lovingly restored by their
owners.
"There will be lots for everyone to see and do at this great
fun family event," said Senior Retail Support Officer, Gail Grant.
"As well as lots of gleaming cars there will be live music,
entertainment for the children and a chance to wander around,
browse and enjoy the shopping in Waterlooville town centre."
Angel Radio, the Havant-based community station that plays
golden oldies for the young at heart, will provide the soundtrack
to the afternoon. DJ Tony Smith will be playing some nostalgic
numbers as well as talking to car owners and comparing the
competitions.
There will be prizes for the best male and female bikers, the
best bike in the show, the best foreign car and the best British
car, and the best car and driver who vehicle fits in with the
SeaBritain theme. The Mayor of Havant, Coun Cyril Hilton will
present the prizes between 1.15pm and 1.45pm and there will be a
special Mayor's choice award for both bikers and car owners.
There will also be music from the Horndean Band and Agglestone
Rock Band as well as drop-in craft workshops from Makendoo that
will keep the kids amused from 10.30am until 12noon and from
12.30pm until 2.30pm.
The event is being organised by Havant Borough Council's
retail support team in association with The South Hants Vehicle
Preservation Society and The Business Association.
