The Air Quality Strategy for England,
Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland (the National Air Quality
Strategy, or NAQS) identifies a number
of atmospheric pollutants, outlining their potential affects and
introducing a program of stringent air quality objectives.
The
UK
Government and the Devolved Administrations are committed to
achieving these objectives on a predetermined agenda of relevant
dates, extending to 2010.
Local Authorities are responsible for Local
Air Quality Management (LAQM), which is
instrumental in achieving the objectives of the National Air
Quality Strategy.
Phase 1 Air Quality Assessments fall in to two
categories:
|
|
- Progress Reports >> :
Produced annually (except where an Updating & Screening
Assessment is scheduled), Progress Reports provide an update on
local monitoring data, modelling predictions and relevant
policy.
