Council Tax
This is a Local Tax set by Local Authorities to help finance
local services such as education, police, social services, refuse
collection etc. As well as money to help pay for services provided
by Havant Borough Council your Council Tax also includes monies
collected on behalf of Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Fire and
Rescue Service and Hampshire Police Authority.
Pay by Direct Debit
This is the easiest, most convenient and cheapest way of
paying, for both the customer and the Council. When the direct
debit is set up your instalment payment will automatically be
debited from your bank account. If the amounts to be paid or
payment dates change you will be notified at least 10 working days
in advance. If you wish to set up a Direct Debit please complete
and return the following instruction.
Pay over the Internet using our secure Online Payment
system
To use this service you will need a credit or debit
card. The service is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
We use the latest encryption technology to ensure users of the
secure website can make payments with confidence.
Use this link to
make an online payment of your Council Tax >> (will
open in a new window in most browsers) - choose the 'Council Tax'
option from the list of payments available.
NOTE
if you pay by credit card a 2% surcharge will be added to your
payment - no surcharge for debit cards.
Pay by Post
Postal remittances must be addressed to:- Havant Borough
Council, Remittances, PO Box 209, HAVANT, HANTS, PO9 9BS. All
cheques should be payable to Havant Borough Council and crossed.
Please write the account number shown on your account on the back
of your cheque, and if you have a payment voucher, slip etc. please
also enclose this. Any cash should be sent by registered
post.
Pay by Debit / Credit Card
Payments by Debit /
Credit Card may be accepted at the Civic Offices over the telephone
or can made over the
Internet , When a payment
is made by credit card there will a charge of
2% per transaction. There is no charge for payments made
using a debit card. If you require more information or

Pay over the Internet using your own online or
telephone Banking Service
You may pay any amount due to the Council using your own Banks
online or telephone banking service. You will need to quote the
account reference as part of the transaction, otherwise your
payment will not be registered correctly. You will need our account
details which are:
Nat West Bank, account number 61767212, sort code 60-10-20,
account name "Havant Borough Council".
Pay at other Offices
Council Tax and Community Charge payments may be made at
Portsmouth City Council housing offices in Somborne Drive, Leigh
Park and Kite Close, Weacock. You must present your instalment slip
when making payment and cheques should be made payable to
Portsmouth City Council. You must present your instalment
slip.
Pay by Standing Order
Not generally used for Council Tax or Business Rates payments
although customers may set up their own standing order. The
Revenues section will supply the details required to be provided to

Pay at the Bank
Fill in and present the payment voucher for the bank cashier
to stamp. Cheques should be made payable to Havant Borough Council.
NatWest bank account holders will not be charged a fee when paying
at a NatWest branch. If you are not a NatWest account holder or you
wish to make payment at another bank, you are advised to check
whether a fee will be payable.
