The Council receives several
requests a year for parking schemes in residential areas, where
residents experience difficulties due to the use of roads for
parking by commuters and shoppers.
Any residents' parking scheme needs
to be well enforced, or the restrictions will be ignored. With the
introduction of ParkSafe the Council now has enough Civil
Enforcement Officers to be able to consider the introduction of
schemes where appropriate.
In residents'
parking schemes, spaces are not reserved for
particular permit holders, and the availability of a parking space
cannot be guaranteed.
A six month experimental scheme
across certain roads in central Emsworth was successful and has now
been made permanent. There was little support for a wider
scheme across Emsworth and so this has not been
pursued.
