Residents' Parking Schemes

The Council receives several requests a year for parking schemes in residential areas, where residents experience difficulties due to the use of roads for parking by commuters and shoppers.

Any residents' parking scheme needs to be well enforced, or the restrictions will be ignored. With the introduction of ParkSafe the Council now has enough Parking Attendants to be able to consider the introduction of schemes where appropriate.

In residents' parking schemes, spaces are not reserved for particular permit holders, and the availability of a parking space cannot be guaranteed. Since schemes need to be self financing, a small charge of £30 will be made for a permit to cover administration costs. For further details on how to apply contact the Parking Office on 023 9244 6647 or 023 9244 6408.

A six month experimental scheme across certain roads in central Emsworth was successful and has now been made permanent. There was little support for a wider scheme across Emsworth and so this has not been pursued.  Surveys are currently under way in parts of Havant to see whether a suitable scheme can be promoted.

Details of any proposed Residents' Parking Schemes will be found under "Traffic Order Proposals" .
