Phase 1A New Lane to Havant Station
Work to construct Phase 1A from the existing
northern end of the cycle route at New Lane, direct into Havant
Station forecourt started on Monday 28th July 2003 and was
substantially completed by the end of September. This work was
carried out in partnership between Hampshire County Council,
South West Trains, Network Rail and Havant Borough Council. Design
was by RKG Consultants, and construction by Caroway
Construction.
The work involved a new crossing of New Lane
with a set of replica railway crossing gates to match those already
installed on the east side of New Lane in Phase 1; a dedicated
route across the South West Trains car park as far as the
forecourt entrance; and additional car parking in the car park to
compensate for loss of parking due to the installation of Phases 1A
and 1B (Phase 1B being the completion of the route from the car
park exit across the forecourt to a dedicated cycle parking
facility).
