For a quick taste of what you find read on ......
Whilst visiting this area you will be spoilt for choice when
it comes to things to do and see. The excellent transport network
makes travelling to a host of wonderful attractions easy. Whether
your interests are heritage, educational or just pure fun, then
Hayling Island and Havant are ideal for family entertainment and
enjoyment. Equally many visitors just enjoy the tranquillity of the
countryside, bird watching and walking.
Staunton Country Park

A chance to visit a genuine Victorian ornamental farm full of
friendly animals such as pot bellied pigs, pygmy goats and
peacocks. The tropical glasshouses contain an exotic collection of
plants, which are fascinating for the whole family. You can then
explore the old library and follies within the landscaped gardens,
visit the new golden jubilee maze and the sensory garden, or just
walk around the lake.

Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard played centre stage in
2005 with the commemoration of the Battle of Trafalgar and
celebrations of Nelson's Victory in 1805. Britain's maritime
heritage is located here in Portsmouth. A visit would not be
complete without a trip to HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary
Rose. There is also Action Stations a new InterAction Gallery, The
Royal Naval Museum and harbour Tours.
Emsworth Museum
North Street, Emsworth
Visit this local history museum to find out about Emsworth
literary connections with the novels of PG Wodehouse and the
original local fishing and oyster industry, which are the roots of
this village.

Discover the link between Havant and the Treaty of Versailles.
Unearth the location of Roman remains. Track down the clues to
solve the mystery of the Hayling Billy. Find out why the Borough
has such an unusual name and examine the workmanship which has gone
into one of the best firearms collections in this country.

Stansted Park

One of the most beautiful stately homes on the south coast,
set in wonderful parkland, chapel, garden and tea shop. The outdoor

Fishbourne Roman Palace

A very interesting and enjoyable day out discovering how the
Romans lived within this area. The Palace has exquisite mosaic
floors, which will remain in your memory for a long time. This is a
must for anyone interested in the Roman era, or "doing The Romans"
at school.

Hayling Ferry
Langstone Harbour Tel: 023 9248 2868
The Hayling Ferry travels from the south west corner of the
island to Portsmouth with a connection by bus into the city centre,
although there is no guarantee of a connection. An interesting
way to beat the queues into the city centre and avoid the car
parking.

Hovertravel

For an interesting and different experience take the
Hovercraft to the Isle of Wight from Southsea. It takes just 10
minutes to Ryde.
Warblington Church
A 12th century church sited on the shore at
Warblington and nestling next to the farm buildings and cows in a
very interesting rural idyll. Grave watchers huts can be found in
the corner of the churchyard which protected local peoples
relatives in the macabre Victorian era of scientific
research.
St Peters Church, Northney, Hayling Island

An 11th century church found in the rural community
of Northney on Hayling Island. Its quiet beauty and historic
elegance lends itself in perfect harmony with its thatched cottages
and rural surroundings. A new section was added to the church in
2000 and known as The Ark because of its up turned boat roof. It is
also the final resting place of a Russian princess, who found a
quiet retreat here on Hayling.
Fort Purbrook

Take in the panoramic views over the Langstone and Chichester
Harbour from this 19
th Century hill fort. Join a guided
tour of the underground tunnels. Stop at the café for refreshment.
Or pick up a handcrafted souvenir at one of the
regular craft
fairs.
Gazebo Garden
East Street, Havant
Hidden, but not quite forgotten. Havant's secret garden can be
found near the rear of the Bear Hotel.
Pleasure Cruises
There are a number of pleasure cruise operators in the area at
various times throughout the year, operated by the Waverley
and Balmoral paddle steamers. Solent Enterprises put on special
cruises too; including themed night entertainment cruises and day
trips up the River Hamble.
There are also a number of operators giving tours of
Portsmouth and Chichester Harbour.
