Where to go .... further afield
Just 10 minutes from Portsmouth by
hovercraft, 15 on the passenger Catamaran or 35 minutes
by car ferry, the Isle of Wight with its pretty little villages and
coastal walks is well worth a day trip.
A treasure trove of antique shops, a majestic castle and some
beautiful country walks. Trains from Havant to Barnham, and
change.
A traditional British seaside resort complete with bandstand
and deckchairs. Direct buses from Havant, or take the train to
Barnham, and change.
Famous for the cruise liners which call at its port,
Southampton is a thriving commercial centre. West Quay is a major
shopping and leisure destination in its own right. Trains direct
from Havant.
Wild ponies, ancient woodlands, heathlands and cream teas. The
New Forest is a walker's paradise, and wonderful for watching the
changing seasons.
It's just a short drive or train ride to this bohemian,
regency styled city where you will find some of the trendiest shops
in the south of England in the famous 'lanes'. Brighton Pavilion is
not to be missed when visiting. Regular buses and trains from
Havant.
