"Call&Go" (formerly Dial-a-Ride)

What is it?

"Call&Go" is a bookable bus service using vehicles that have easy access entrances for passengers. The buses are capable of carrying people in their wheelchairs or with scooters and are easily accessible to parents with buggies.

Who can use it?

To use the service, passengers will need to live in Havant Borough, Clanfield, Horndean or Rowlands Castle and meet one of the following criteria:

  • live more than 400 metres from an available bus route
  • be disabled or have a mobility or sensory impairment which makes using buses difficult
  • they do not have access to a car when required and there is no suitable bus service when they need to travel

How much will it cost?

Fares are based on a system similar to bus fares. The passenger pays the driver just as they would do on a normal bus or taxi. Concessions (bus passes) are not accepted on journeys starting within the Borough of Havant.

When can I travel?

Trips can be made on Mondays to Saturdays between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm . Trips can be made within the Havant Borough area, Clanfield, Horndean or Denmead; trips into Portsmouth (shopping in Commercial Road, and visiting Queen Alexandra Hospital and St Mary's Hospital) can be made on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

What can I use it for?

The service can be used for anything you like: to go to the shops, visiting friends or relatives, library, swimming - indeed almost anywhere within the operating area.

How do I book?

First, you need to register (once only). Please telephone 0845 602 4135 between 8 am and 5 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 8 am and 4.30 pm on Saturdays. Bookings may be made up to six days in advance or before 4 pm the day before you wish to travel.

Can I get help getting on and off?

Yes, if you need assistance, the well-trained and friendly drivers will help you at the beginning and end of your journey.

Can I travel in my wheelchair, or with an escort?

Most wheelchairs are electric scooters can be taken on Call&Go buses. However, you will need to give further details when you register (eg. size of the wheelchair/scooter, and whether you are able to transfer to a seat). We will let you know if we can accommodate your travel needs. If you have an essential escort, they may travel with you free of charge. You will need to state this requirement when you register and explain why the escort is necessary.
