Clinical Waste Collection
Service
We provide a separate free weekly
collection service, to householders who need
to dispose of medical waste as a
result of treatment at home. Clinical items must
not be placed in with
your normal rubbish, but stored and presented in either a
yellow clinical waste bag
(swabs/dressings/pads) or a yellow plastic sharps container
(needles/blades) - these are
provided to residents free of charge.
Please note that we do not collect
clinical waste from commercial premises - arrangements should be
made
with a private contractor (external link to The
Yellow Pages) >>
Collections are normally arranged by a
health visitor, district nurse or home care assistant, but
residents
can contact the Council directly
themselves.
All clinical waste is taken to the
Energy Recovery Facility in Portsmouth, for
incineration
