The Transport team provides new bus shelters and arranges the maintenance of existing bus shelters.  We also offer advice concerning the positioning of bus stop signs.

What kinds of shelters are there?

There are two main types of bus shelters within the borough, shelters with advertising pannel and shelters without advertising.

 

 

Who provides the different types of shelter?

Havant Borough Council provides most of the bus shelters within the borough, although Hampshire County Council can supply bus shelters, this is usually when the bus shelter is on a quality bus route.

 

Bus shelters with advertising pannels in are currently provided by Clear Channel who are a advertising company.

 

 

Who provides the bus stop signs and poles?

Havant Borough Council provied the bus stops on behalf of Hampshire County Council. Most bus stop signs or flags as they are know are supplied and maintained by the bus operator, some are supplied and maintained by Havant Borough on behalf of Hampshire County Council.

 

If the bus stop sign is missing then contact  customer.services@havant.gov.uk and report the missing sign.

 

 

How do I report a damaged shelter?

Havant Borough Council maintain most of the bus shelters within the borough the exception are the stainless steel advertising shelters and the light brown advertising shelters. If a shelter has been damaged or vandelised please report it to customer.services@havant.gov.uk

 

 

How do I request a new shelter?

To request a new shelter at a bus stop contact customer.services@havant.gov.uk . Before a site is added to the list of sites awaitng new shelters the site will need to be visited to ensure that there is suitable space for the shelter and that it will not affect the visablity form a road junction. If the site is suitable it will be added to the list which will then be prioritsed when funding is available.

 

 

Can I request a seat within a shelter or at a stop?

To request a seat at a bus stop or in a bus shelter please contact customer.services@havant.gov.uk . Before a site is added to the list of sites awaitng new seats the site will need to be visited to ensure that there is suitable space for the seat and that it is a suitable location. If the site is suitable it will be added to the list which will then be prioritised when funding is available.

 

 

How do I request a shelter /  bus stop to be removed / moved?

If you wish to have a bus stop or shelter moved or removed then you need to contact customer.services@havant.gov.uk stating the location of the bus stop/ shelter and the reason why you wish the shelter / bus stop to be moved or removed. If there is a suitable reson and evidence for shelter / stop to be moved then and an alternative site is available then this will be undertaken. If the bus service is no longer operating in that road (unless its a seasonal service) then the bus facilities should be removed.

Please note that if the shelter or stop is being move to facilitate the construction of a private drive then the resident will usally have to fund the removal cost.
