In this year of the Olympics the Waterlooville Music Festival is in its seventh year. It is still finding a wealth of new talent and some returning firm favourites. As in previous years Market Place Music fills the town with a myriad of musical divertissements on the first Saturday. The church holds its Summer Fete that day too to add to the bustle of the town. In the evening there is a Grand Gala Concert by the Highbury Area Band. The Scratch performance this year will be The Messiah. Throughout the week there are free lunchtime concerts, schools concerts and workshops as well as an exciting evening programme. Amongst these we have contributions from Havant Clarinet and Saxophone Band , Hago, Solent Male Voice Choir, The Spinnaker Chorus, Denmead Brass Band, Portsmouth Philarmonia, Opera Comique and of course; The Last Night of the Proms. Tickets are £6 for the evening concerts (£5 in advance) and £7 for the Last Night of the Proms. There is a passport ticket costing £25 which will get you into all the concerts bar the Last Night of the Proms.
