Young citizens join together for
Europe Day
The Waterlooville Area Twinning Association
(WATA) and Cowplain Community School have been awarded 15000 Euros
(approx. £12,628) of European funding, as a result of Havant
Borough Council (HBC) officers assisting with its bid.
The funding is to facilitate an exchange
programme with Henstedt-Ulzburg (Germany) and Maurepas, France,
allowing young people to travel to Waterlooville and take part in a
number of sporting, swimming and cultural activities on 11/12
May 2012.
HBC is the accountable body for this
European funding bid, to celebrate European day 2012, with an
international programme of youth debates and activities based at
Cowplain School in Waterlooville. Youth representatives are
encouraged to plan and deliver the project themselves.
Councillor Fairhurst, portfolio holder for
economy and communities said;” This is a very exciting project for
young people to get involved in. The council has played its
part in securing the funding by assisting with the bid application
and are delighted with the outcome.
“It will be great to welcome young citizens
from Euorpe into the borough and I look forward to the project
coming to fruition next year.”
