Small grants scheme to boost local entrepreneurs

Havant Borough Council is making available £30,000 to local entrepreneurs dividing the cash between 60 small businesses in a bid to help boost the local economy.

The money comes from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentives scheme (LABGI) which is available to local authorities to help with economic development and encourage local people to start-up their own businesses.

To qualify for the grant your business must be located in the Borough of Havant, been trading for less than 12 months and be a full time business. The grant of £500 will make a positive contribution towards the cost of creating a new business or social enterprise.

Councillor Mike Fairhurst, portfolio holder for economic development at Havant Borough Council said: “This is fantastic opportunity for local entrepreneurs and new business owners to kick-start their businesses with an injection of cash.

“The money could be used for marketing materials to assist in building awareness of their new business, it’s up to them how they choose to spend the money.

“There are only 60 of these grants available so if you think you qualify apply today!
