Sports Awards

32nd Annual Havant Sports Awards Announced - 23rd February 2012

 

Havant Borough Sports Association working in partnership with Havant Borough Council is pleased to announce that the 32nd annual Sports Awards will take place on Thursday 23rd February 2012.

 

The Awards will once again take place at Park Community School in Leigh Park from 7.30pm and will present to the winners and runners up of 16 categories. All applications forms need to be completed and returned by 31st December 2011.

 

Winners at the Havant Sports Awards will be automatically put forward to the Hampshire Sports Awards on 21st March 2012, to be hosted at Southampton Football Club.

Sports Awards for Havant’s sporting hero’s

 

More than 150 people filled Park Community School theatre to the rafters, for the Havant Annual Sports Awards, motivationally up-lifting event on Thursday 17th February 2011.

The 31st sports awards event hosted by Havant Borough Sports Association and supported by Havant Borough Council opened with a dance display by ‘Movers R Us’ based at Park Community School.

 

Barry Kitcher, Hampshire 2012 Coordinator, gave an inspirational talk on the 2012 Olympic Games, to all the volunteers, officials, coaches and athletes from across the borough in the audience.

 

Horizon Leisure Trust sponsored the Club of the Year award.  Howard Broad, chief executive for Horizon Leisure Trust presented this award to this year’s winning club, Victory AC (Athletics). The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Yvonne Weeks, presented the other 16 awards - winners and runners up. 

 

“It is always a pleasure to take part in this event and listen to the stories of hard work and dedication of our sports clubs, volunteers and athletes from across the borough.

 

“Without the enthusiasm, support and determination of these high commendable people we would not be able to offer our community the opportunities to take part in or develop their sporting passions.  We thank them and salute their achievements.”

Winners of the awards are automatically put through to the Hampshire Sports Awards which will be held on the 23rd March at St Mary’s Football Stadium.
