A Profile of Sandy Hopkins -

Chief Executive

 

Sandy HopkinsSandy Hopkins holds a dual role as Chief Executive of both Havant Borough Council and East Hampshire District Council and has experience working in public and private sector service industries. Holding a Masters in Business Administration, Diploma in Marketing and BA (Hons) Degree in English with History, Sandy is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

 

Sandy has held a number of public sector management roles across Hampshire and Wiltshire in the areas of Economic Development, Marketing, Leisure, and Tourism. She joined Havant Borough Council in June 2001 as the Director of Community Services. Sandy then took up the role of Director of Change in December 2002 to drive through a major programme of reorganisation and transformation across the Council. At the end of this project, in June 2003, Sandy became Director with responsibility for the corporate services across the Council.

 

Sandy was appointed Chief Executive of Havant Borough Council in September 2007 and took on the Chief Executive role for East Hampshire District Council in October 2009; therefore making Sandy the first shared Chief Executive in Hampshire.  In addition to her CEO role at both Councils, Sandy is Vice-Chair of Governors at Havant College, Chairman of the Safer Havant Partnership, Chief Executive Lead for the Sustainability and Community Infrastructure Delivery Panel of the Partnership of South Hampshire ( PUSH ) and also the Hampshire Chief Executive on the South East England Corporate Transformation Board for Improvement and Efficiency. Sandy is keen to support improvement and learning in the community and sits on the Portsmouth University Business School Advisory Panel as well as being a mentor for future local government leaders on the South East England ‘Future Leaders Programme’.

 

In her spare time Sandy enjoys the many cultural pleasures of the South Coast including theatre, concerts, walking, wining and dining and a variety of sporting opportunities but most particularly tries her hand on the badminton courts and the golf courses of Hampshire. Sandy also enjoys exploring the delights of other cultures and is a keen independent traveller.
