Public Consultation Results for Hayling Billy Trail Phase
3
The Hayling Billy Trail Public Consultation Event was held at
The Chapel, Langstone High Street on Thursday 5th March
2009 between 2.00
pm
and
7.00
pm
.
The Consultation Event prompted a good
response, with 31 local residents providing comment and having
returned a completed questionnaire before the 12th
March. Consultees from outside the Village were also invited to
attend the consultation event and although not present, a large
contingent from the 'Walking for Health Group' (27 members and 5
leaders) submitted a questionnaire as a census from the group.
The purpose of the meeting was primarily to
gauge public opinion regarding the preferred surfacing material,
although many other issues were raised and discussed at the meeting
including the need for a controlled crossing facility on Langstone
Road and diversion of the overhead power lines close to the
harbour. We are pleased to say the overhead power lines shall be
diverted below ground later this year. The apparent need to provide
a controlled crossing on Langstone Road shall be reviewed once the
next phase of the Billy Trail has been constructed.
Works to facilitate the Billy Trail shall
commence shortly for 5 weeks, up to the end of April. Construction
of the next phase of the Billy Trail is due to start in August /
September 2009.
RESULTS
32 questionnaires were returned. Of these, 31
were from Langstone residents.
New Milton was the preferred surfacing
material.
There was majority support for the proposed
controlled crossing.
