Fairtrade in Havant Borough

Havant Borough Fairtrade Forum has been meeting since 2004 with the aim of promoting Fairtraide products across the local area and thanks to their efforts, Havant has now successfully become a Fairtrade Borough.

What is Fairtrade?

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and produce workers in developing countries. The people who produce crops such as tea, fruit and vegetables are among the poorest in the world and are often exploited by traders.

By addressing the injustices of conventional trade and requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which never fall beneath those of the market) Fairtrade aims to help enable the poorest and weakest producers to improve their situations and gain more control of their lives.

Fairtrade marks on products are a guarantee that the workers have been paid fair prices for their produce.
