Access Protection Line (APL)

An Access Protection Line (APL) is a white road marking painted on the road in front of a properly constructed dropped kerb to highlight the presence of an access.

An APL is an advisory marking and is not legally enforceable.

A dropped kerb is enforceable regardless of whether an APL is marked on the road. If you want to report a vehicle parking over your dropped kerb please call our Parking Office on 0300 555 0705.

On receipt of your complaint we can arrange for a Civil Enforcement Officer to visit the area to see if a Penalty Charge Notice can be issued to the vehicle.

Fees

There is a non-returnable fee of £120 for processing your application. If you qualify, the road marking itself is painted free of charge.

How to apply

Please complete the application form and return it to the address provided (on the form) with the £120 fee.

Once your application is received, an officer will contact you within 21 working days.
